How this list was made

Where the names came from

This list starts with the businesses people named in the comments on Podium's post on Instagram. Podium did not make this list and does not run it.

How the comments were saved

We saved the comments and replies from the post by hand and read all 970 of them: 685 comments and 285 replies, posted from 6 to 17 October 2026. 786 people wrote them.

We saved them again on 18 October 2026 to add the newer ones.

What we checked for each business

A founder line on a card ("Founded by" or "Co-founded by") comes only from the business's own words.

What we did not check

We did not check ownership shares. We did not check who founded a business, or whether its founder is a woman, beyond the business's own words. That is why every card says "Not yet confirmed by the owner" until the owner confirms it.

What "Named by N people" means

It is the number of people, not counting the owner, who named the business in a comment or a reply on Podium's post. We never show who they are. "Named by the owner" means only the owner named it.

Quotes are commenters' own words, kept short. We cut private people's names and health details, and every cut shows as [...]. We show no handles. Each quote links to Podium's post.

If a quote is yours and you want it taken down, use the confirm, correct or remove form. We remove it within 7 days.

Listed and held back

906 businesses are on the list. We held back 248 names:

Confirm, correct or remove a listing

If a business on this list is yours, tap "This is my business" on its card, or use the confirm, correct or remove form. You can confirm that the business is yours, correct the listing, remove it or remove one quote. To confirm, we write to the email address the business shows publicly, and its card then says "Confirmed by the owner". Anyone can use the form to tell us a business has closed or is on pause. We act on every request within 7 days. Nothing sent through a form shows on this page until it has been checked.

Know a business that should be here? Nominate a business. Your own business is welcome too.

The colours and typefaces

The purple, white and green are the colours the suffragettes chose in 1908, which International Women's Day still uses. The page is set in typefaces designed by women: Montserrat (Julieta Ulanovsky and team) and Mansalva (Carolina Short). Founders' names are set in Mansalva. They are not signatures. The drawings are Open Peeps by Pablo Stanley, recoloured for this page. They are not the owners of the businesses on the list.
